Advocating for Quality Physical Education Programs University of Victoria student, Tyler Duncan, has committed to promoting the importance of quality physical education to the healthy development of children and youth by undertaking a cross-Canada bike ride. On March 31, Tyler will put his foot to the peddle in Victoria, BC where he will begin his 7000km trek from Victoria, BC to St. John's, Newfoundland. Along the way Tyler plans to talk to schools, community groups and policy makers about the need for quality physical education programs for all Canadian children and youth as a critical intervention to reverse the negative obesity and physical inactivity currently plaguing our nation. With the support of CAHPERD, Tyler's Get Smart Get Active will reach wide-ranging audience and hopefully stimulate more awareness and support for Quality Daily Physical Education! Help Support Tyler's Cause Schools, community groups and individuals are encouraged to join forces on the Tour in a variety of ways: 1. Cheer Tyler on as he makes his way through your community – your encouragement will make peddling that bike a little easier! 2. Have Tyler speak to your school/community about the importance of physical education in the lives of children. Talk it up once he leaves – we need advocates who will continue to deliver the message long after Tyler has completed his Tour. 3. Log on to Tyler's website and show him we're all behind him – he will be checking it while en route! 4. Donate to the cause – create a campaign in your community that donates to Tyler for every km he peddles – or challenge your school board or province to match your contribution! Donations are being accepted to support Tyler's tour and to ensure a lasting legacy that will support physical education advocacy and programs in Canada. Every little bit helps, and we appreciate all the help we can get! Visit Tyler's website for full details Tyler's Trip Calendar Email Tyler Support Tyler by joining Tyler's Facebook
