Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario report on the health of Ontario's Kids

The 2009 Heart and Stroke Report on the Health of Ontario's Kids, the first-ever survey of its kind in the province, shows that our children are still facing an unhealthy childhood due to a lack of physical activity and poor eating habits, even though statistics 10 years ago brought these problems to light. And if the situation doesn't improve soon, this generation of children – through no fault of their own – will experience a shorter lifespan than their parents due to the risk of developing life-threatening illnesses such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. - September 10 2009

More exercise in school won't help fat kids: study
	The problem of overweight children won't be solved by piling on exercise in school, according to new research presented last Thursday. Youngsters who have a lot of physical activity during school hours tend to wilt when they get home. Children who have less action in school are more active after the final bell rings, says the study. - May 11 2009

Effect of school-based physical activity interventions on body mass index in children
	A recent study, published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal found that school-based physical activity interventions did not improve BMI, although they had other beneficial health effects. - March 31 2009

Invest in children's nutrition
	The Centre for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), Breakfast for Learning (BFL), and the Canadian Home and School Federation (CHSF) are urging Federal Minister of Finance, The Honourable Jim Flaherty, to invest in children's nutrition in the forthcoming budget. - January 22 2009
