Iveagh Munro 1950-1952 
Miss Iveagh Munro, Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation for Women, McGill University, has received the Honour Award of the American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
A Canadian by birth, Miss Munro received her education in both countries. She is a graduate of the McGill School of Physical Education and of Teacher’s College, Columbia University, holding the Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from the latter institution.
Her teaching experience has been broad, embracing elementary school work in Montreal, Y.W.C.A. work in New York; and women’s programs at Alma College at St. Thomas, Ontario, and McGill University. Not only has Miss Munro given outstanding leadership in women’s physical education, but also in the field of teacher preparation at the State Teachers’ College, Danbury, Connecticut, and as Assistant to the Director of McGill School of Physical Education. In the latter capacity, she helped to implement the Degree Course at that Institution. Her interest in teacher preparation led her to visit teacher training establishments in Sweden, Denmark, German and Great Britain.
Her career has been marked by continuous service in professional organizations. Miss Munro has been President of the Quebec AHPER, and the Canadian AHPER, and a member of the Board of Directors of the CAHPER since 1952. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the EAPECW, and Chairman of its International Relations Committee from 1953-56. at present, she is Chairman of the Affiliations Committee, CAHPER; a member of the Executive Board of the International Association of Physical Education and Sports for Girls and Women, and Canadian Representative to that Association. She has been active in the Y.W.C.A., the Montreal Parks and Playgrounds Associations, and in Camping.
In recognition of her professional contributions, Miss Munro was an Associate Member of the Royal Life Saving Society, and in 1955 was the recipient of the Honour Award of the Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
The American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation recognized Miss Munro’s endeavours by the following citation:
Miss Iveagh Munro, Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation for Women, McMill University, has for over thirty years rendered distinguished service to her profession in Canada and the United States.
By virtue of her professional training received in both countries, and the leadership which she has exerted on both sides of the Border, Miss Munro holds “dual citizenship” in our profession.
Her career has been marked by continuous service in professional organizations. She has held innumerable positions of responsibility in local, national and International associations. Her interests have extended beyond her own profession and she has worked wholeheartedly in affiliated fields.
In recognition of her breadth of vision and her contributions to the development of teacher preparation; her devoted service in the interests of youth, especially in the field of women’s physical education; the inspiration she has given students and colleagues; the American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation is proud to confer upon Miss Munro its Honour Award.

But even with all these duties, he always had or perhaps took time to listen to personal problems. To many he was guide, counselor and friend, ready to listen and to help. Perhaps that may explain why he is known to many as “dad”.
